Pamir Memorial This fascinating multilingual site by Philippe Bellamit of France tells the story of the great German 4-masted barque, Pamir, which during her long career, also sailed under the flags of Italy, Finland, and New Zealand. As well as all kinds of interesting background information, Philippe has included full fleet lists for both the Laeisz Family and Gustaf Erikson along with an extensive references and links page.

Åland Maritime Museum Take a virtual tour of this world-famous maritime museum which is located in Gustaf Erikson's home town of Mariehamn, Finland.

Maritime History Virtual Archives This site, created by Lars Bruzelius, has a wealth of information on sailing ships including the Herzogin Cecilie .

Sailing Ships This excellent site by Fredrik Sandström has lots of pictures and all kinds of information on sailing ships.

Frank Curry's War Diary In his diary, which is part of the Veterans Affairs Canada site, ex-RCN sailor, Frank Curry, remembers his corvette, HMCS Kamsack's dramatic encounter with the troopship Awatea.

Joining the War at Sea 1939-1945, Chapter Four In this selection from his book, ex-USN sailor, Franklyn E. Dailey, Jr., recounts the tragic events which occurred during the crossing of Convoy AT-20.

SS Ceramic and her Sinking This site by Caroline and David Howse commemorates Private William G. Godfrey and all the others who were lost when the Shaw, Savill & Albion liner was sunk by U-515 in December 1942. Of the 656 people aboard Ceramic, only one survived the sinking. Caroline and David have also done extensive research in order to provide a Casualty List, and they would like to hear from anyone who can either add a name to or provide a photo for the list.

C.S. Restorer (1902-1951) This site written by Dirk van Oudenol tells the fascinating history of the Cable Ship Restorer. During her long career Restorer serviced the Pacific and Dirk was one of her crew members in 1947-48.

Log of a Sea Waif: My First Ship This on-line version of one of Frank Thomas Bullen's best-known books, The Log of a Sea-Waif: Being Recollections of the First Four Years of my Sea Life is part of the Maritime History and Naval Heritage Homepage. The site was created by Michael Phillips and Jane Buchmann Phillips with the aim of covering an extensive range of maritime subjects, with a focus on naval history. Michael and Jane welcome the contributions of writers on any matter of nautical interest and they also act as host to a variety of maritime associations including The Shaw Savill Society and The Liverpool Nautical Research Society.

These are just two of the thirty-six books written by Frank Thomas Bullen. In 1953 the publishing firm of Collins in London combined these two books into one volume entitled The Cruise of the 'Cachalot': The Log of a Sea-Waif with an introduction by Hammond Innes.
