SS Ceramic and her Sinking
This site by Caroline and David Howse commemorates
Private William G. Godfrey and all the others who
were lost when the Shaw, Savill & Albion liner was sunk
by U-515 in December 1942. Of
the 656 people aboard Ceramic, only one survived
the sinking.
Caroline and
David have also done extensive research in order to
provide a Casualty List, and they would like to hear from anyone
who can either add a name to or provide a photo for the list.
C.S. Restorer (1902-1951) This site written by
Dirk van Oudenol tells the
fascinating history of the
Cable Ship
Restorer. During her long career
Restorer serviced the Pacific
and Dirk was one of her crew members
in 1947-48.
